Welcome to The Nest

Welcome to our page dedicated to The Nest, our inclusion base at Sawtry Infant School. The Nest provides support for children with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) who have more complex learning and developmental needs.

The Nest is our approach to providing targeted support in Sawtry Infant School to form our inclusion base. The Nest is open every afternoon and offers a calm, nurturing and supportive environment where children can develop their confidence and independence skills at a pace that is right for them. The Nest is led by adults in school who are familiar to the children and overseen by our school SENDCO.

Our provision is personalised to meet each child's individual needs. Sessions may include support with:

• Communication and Interaction
• Emotional Regulation
• Sensory Needs
• Social Development
• Independence and Learning Skills

We use a range of practical, engaging and carefully structured activities to help children make progress and enjoy their learning.

Importantly, The Nest is part of our inclusive whole-school approach. Children continue to be valued members of their classes and school community, with opportunities to learn and socialise alongside their peers. Time in The Nest provides targeted support while helping children to develop the skills and confidence they need to participate fully in school life.

Our aim is for every child to feel safe, valued and successful. We work closely with children, families, class teachers and other professionals to ensure that the support we provide reflects each child's strengths and individual needs.

At The Nest, we believe every child has their own unique strengths and potential. Our role is to help them discover it, develop it and shine.

In The Nest, we believe that learning is about more than academic achievement. Life Skills help our children develop confidence, independence and the ability to manage everyday tasks.

Through practical activities such as cooking, shopping, handling money, following routines and communicating needs, children develop skills they can use both in school and everyday life.

We celebrate every step towards greater independence, helping each child to recongise what they can do and what they are capable of achieving.
